Friday, 21 May 2010

Beta2 of Gmail Checker 2.2 is available. You can get it here. If everything goes well, I'll release it as version 2.2.

For anyone interested in translating the extension, please download the locale files here and then email me your translation. Very much appreciated!

New feature in this version is the ability to delete, mark as read and do other stuff to all the messages at once.

  3. There's a little problem: left-button action doesn't work properly anymore, it doesn't check mail as before, it works the same as right-button opening up main menu.

  7. Since I got version 2.2 I am having problems. Sometimes the extension does not seem to remember the accounts password and will prompt me. If I log out of all accounts and then relog-in it will work. What gives? Is this some sort of time out issue. I occasionally got it on the other versions but it happens more so on v2.2. I have this issues on work and home and other computers. I have about 20 gmail accounts.

  8. If the passwords are saved locally, i.e. under 'Manage Accounts' then there shouldn't be any problem.
However, if you just selected 'remember login session' in the login window then the passwords weren't saved locally. The problem is due to expired session cookies.

  9. Why the Right Click doesn't work in Mac OS X? This extensions works fine in Windows Vista, but in my macbook, doesn't work. Nothing happened. How can I modify this to work? Thanks!

  10. Someone mentioned this problem a while back but I can't verify because I'm not using Mac OS.
You can make the left click open the menu by changing the setting in Tools/Add-ons/Gmail Checker - Options / Misc.

  11. I'm new to this extension but think it's great. One super-tiny recommendation for future versions is to make it so that after you click on the icon to open the menu, you can click on it again to close it. Would be a nice touch, I think.

  12. Love the program! Works much better than Gmail Notifier does.

1 issue though. When I open my browser it does automatically log-in my accounts and thats great. However, once I open another browser page, I have to manually tell the program to check for mail for that window. Can you fix that?

  13. It would also be great if we could change the little envelopes position on the status-bar.

  14. In the next release, the extension will automatically check mail when you open a new window.

  16. Thanks for getting back to me, NT.

Something that would be cool is if we could change the design and/or color of the envelope and arrow. I would be happy to design a bunch for you.

    What do you think?

  17. How about making use of the IMAP/push functions? then we wouldn't need to use check every few minutes :)

  20. Hello,
very nice App, but how "Diogo Nunes" reported on Sunday, 11 July 2010, 12:50 am, the right click doesn't work properly on Mac OSX 10.6.4
There was already "scchu" who reported this on Wednesday, 10 October 2007, 07:05 am in the older version.
I mean the rightclick at the message list, mentioned in the help: "Right click on a message to show a list of available options..." No options are shown on right click. It works perfectly on Windows though.
    Thanks,
    franc

  21. Is there any hope for a bugfix for Mac OSX 10.6 in this rightclick-matter?

  22. Does Ctrl+Click work? You may want to give this http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.click_hold_context_menus a try as well.
by NT on Thursday, 9 September 2010, 12:00 am #
  23. No, nothing does it. Neither CTRL+LeftClick or RightClick (i have a MacBook with real right click) nor any other thing: click and hold, other keys with any mousebutton and so on.
    It just doesn't work.

  24. I am running version 2.3 of gmail checker. What happened to the "Log out" of mail accounts?
by Ted on Saturday, 11 September 2010, 12:07 am #
  25. Still the same. Only 'log out of all acounts' is now inside each account's submenu. The reason is because people often misclicked it when opening the main menu.

  26. Is the rightclick working now for Mac in the new 2.3?

  27. I've been busy so I'll see if I can fix this when I've got time.

  28. Re: the Mac right-click issue, right-clicking to open the menu works fine on my Mac, but right-clicking on a message in the menu to show the popup that lets you delete, archive, etc. does not work.
