  2. Just another idea: in manage account window make an option for every mailbox, add counted unread mails to sum. (default yes for every acc.)

(I have some acconts which is not mine, for example my daughter's acc. Generally she just read her mails in the evening - she is just nine years old. When I right click the icon I could see she has mails or not, delete or just make mails as read, but not summarized and shows 0 unread mails for my acconts.)
This would be a nice feature.

    thanx

  5. Thanks for this plugin. I don't know if I've made this suggestion or not, but it would be a nice little change if the login popup had the cursor positioned in the password field, not the username field.

  6. Another feature request for this nice little tool: When I hit the middle button (this could be configurable) the add-on should recheck the connected accounts for any new mails.

And another one: moving the mouse over the icon should show some part of the unread mail(s) of the top account.

    Thank you!

  7. The 2-step verification is not working.
I have generated an application specific password but cannot check email. It constantly asks for "SMS verification code"
    by T81 on Sunday, 18 December 2011, 10:43 am #
  8. T81, you need to enter the SMS verification code Google has sent you. That's the point of 2-step verification.

  9. I have 2 accounts. One with 2-step verification and other don't. This extension works fine in the first minutes but after a while just open the first account and block the 2nd one. I don't understand why? It is because just one is 2-step verification? Any help please?

  10. Hi NT,
I'm using the code google sent me, but no luck.
    I'm using firefox 5.0.1
    The procedure is the following.
    1) Under "Manage accounts" I add an account.
    2) I'm entering my User Name and my account password.
    3) I've created an application-specific password and I'm filling with it the appropriate field in Gmail checker.
    4) While checking mail I get "Enter the SMS verification code into the password filed" so I enter the code google sent me, but no luck...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

  11. Great addon.

However, I recently added 2 step verification, after seeing strange activity on my account, and Gmail checker is unable to fetch mail on the email address with 2 step verification once I set up an application specific password. There is no way I can use Checker without using an application specific password(I'm unable to check my text for verification code every time I open Firefox!)
Please create a fix so that I can check mail on my account that uses application specific password. Thank you !!

  12. Here and now it works 100%. The problem that I mentioned above was because I always logout my account instead of closing the tab.
It works fine with 2 step verification or without it.
I will try to help in translating to Portuguese (PT-pt) :)

  13. Opening two different acocunts in a single session causes me to get logged out when I launch Firefox the next time? If this is a feature I fail to see the benefit for using your extension. Please tell me you're working on fixing it.

FYI: I used to use Doron Rosenberg's Gmail Notifier but had to find another extension when Google's constant changes forced him to halt development. I was really hoping your addon would be a good replacement but now I'm really not sure it is.

  16. Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, just got Firefox 9.10.

Previously, when using the Gmail Checker there was a little envelop icon in the bottom right of the screen. I could right-click that envelope to read mail, open mailbox and stuff. But now there's no envelope.

The add-on still tells me when a new email arrives. But the lack of the other functionality really sucks.

Any work-around, or fix in the pipeline? Cheers, martin.

  17. Is there a way to disable the mail check for some accounts? What I really need is an "account switcher" not necessarily a mail checker. This is the best thing for it I could find but would be nice to avoid the checking emails on all the different accounts.

  20. Any possibility of a 'Mark All as Read' button, that iterates all unread messages and sends the 'Mark as Read' command?

Also, seconding the middle click = Check mail now.

  21. Never mind, just saw the 'Apply to All' option. Dedicated button would be nice, though.

  22. Something else I noticed:

if gmail isn't available, the icon just keeps 'loading'. Is it possible to put a timeout on the feed check?

  31. Nomad, your gmailchecker.sqlite file probably got corrupted. Try deleting it. Unfortunately, this will remove all your saved accounts and settings.

  35. I tend not to leave a response, however I looked at some of
the comments on Gmail Checker 2.6.1. I actually do have 2 questions
for you if you do not mind. Is it just me or does it appear like some of the comments come across like they are written by brain dead individuals?
:-P And, if you are writing at additional places, I'd like to keep up with you. Would you list of all of your shared pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

  37. After a lot of search and tests I've finally decided to go for this plug-in. First I couldn't get 2-step verification working the way I wanted but after ticking 'remember sms code..' that appears in the prompt for an sms code the first time a new account is accessed, things seem to work fine. I've got one gmail account with 2-step verification, one google apps account also with 2-step verification, plus a third normal gmail account and the plugin successfully handles all these accounts even if I don't sign in to google. I've tried many alternatives to this plugin but this is the only one working as one would expect, except for the first prompt for an sms code which shouldn't be necessary when an application-specific password is used, anyway well done!
Saying that I also have a feature request, namely an option 'open all mail' in the context menu (also selectable as default action when clicking the icon) that opens the inbox for all accounts that have unread mail as separate tags. That would make my day. Thanks a lot.

  39. When using Personas add-on I would see the number of unread emails per account on the sub menu. When using Noia 4 Theme Manager add-on the number is no longer visible. Is this a Noia problem?

  40. Having used this plug-in for a while I need to report a problem with the 2-step verification, where the problem seems to be that Gmail Checker when signing in appears to remove (probably inadvertently) the "trust this computer" flag (cookie setting). If I'm signed on to account1 with the "trusted computer" flag set, then I use Gmail Checker to read emails on account2 (also 2-step verification), I'm then getting signed off account1 and when signing in again the "trusted computer" I need to provide an SMS code because the setting is no longer there. Something seems to be missing in the Gmail Checker sign-in process so that it doesn't handle the setting of that flag correctly.

  46. a small problem, since i want it to check emails on browser startup. the only problem is that it makes everything else freeze when checking emails.
This happens even when firefox is running and this addon checks for emails, it stops scrolls, hoves effects, tabs drag and drop

    please look into this

    thank you

  47. Hi,

Great Add-In. Thank you. I have 3 comments.

    1. As I learned from the Gmail Checker FAQ 2nd question it is normal that if I open the mailbox through the add-in and then log out, the add-in must be logged out to re-autenticate. But I really don't like Google following me so I always log out from Google services. So if I open my mailbox through the add-in, I always have to log out the add-in then make it re-check the mailbox. It would be very nice to have a menu entry to just go to the mailbox, without "transferring" the authentication. Or the behaviour of opening the mailbox would be configurable. Therefore the user would have to log in and loging out would not invalidate the add-in.

    2. I have only one account and I am not sure how it looks with multiple accounts but it would be also very nice to have the 'open mailbox' menu entry in the main menu. So the opening of the mailbox would be quicker and easier.

    3. The last one is just a cosmetic issue: the formatting of new email entries are not right (or at least not windows standard). It would be nice to have the email icon at the center of the left column and the text at the right column adjusted to left.

    Best regards,
    Peter
